So, I have finally purchased a slotted spoon. Mara once told me that she once read somewhere that that is one of the top utensils every cook needs, and I disagreed. I've made it this long without one, and I almost never felt the need for one. I just use a regular spoon, and if the food is in liquid, I drain it.
But crock pot recipes that I have cooked lately have made me start to want one to scoop the chicken out before I make the juice into a sauce. So I broke down, ate my words, and bought a slotted spoon. We'll see how it fares as an investment. It only cost $1.25, so for that it can't do too badly!
$1.25 is a cheap price to pay for something that will get as much mileage as a slotted spoon. Have fun scooping!
